Helping older people Stay Nourished

Ageing leads to changes in our appetites and attitudes towards food. These changes and other developments increase the risk of older people becoming malnourished. However, this is often an overlooked health matter as people believe that malnourishment is a consequence of a marked loss of weight, but this isn’t necessarily the case. Anyone of any size can be malnourished and so we want to raise awareness of the issue in the wider community and help to educate families on the risks, the signs and the ways to combat malnourishment when caring for their loved ones.

Preventing malnutrition in older people

Exceptional Care At Home provides a range of supportive services, including the preparation of meals and encouraging Service Users to enjoy a healthy, balanced diet. We ensure that Service Users are eating properly and monitor any changes in health and wellbeing.

How to make sure someone is eating a balanced diet

The best way to ensure someone is eating a healthy balanced diet is to be there in person during mealtimes. However, we know that when families are caring for their parents or relatives, there isn’t always enough time in busy schedules to sit and enjoy every mealtime together. Our assistance, and services including Respite care can help families to fill the gaps.
